A large multinational transportation company created a centralized Technical Architecture team as a corporate resource for definition and supervision of execution of IT Strategies and Architectures. Members of Systemcon staff supported the Team by providing the following services: · Acted as consultant to business leaders and solution developers on application of technologies · Produced technical designs, and supervised their implementation in the areas of: · Voice and data communications · Voice Processing (DirectTalk, Intervoice, TALX) · Call centres and Computer Telephony Integration (Lucent, Vantive, Genesys, Oracle, RightFAX, HP-UX, Windows, Sun) · Workflow and Document Imaging (FileNet, RightFAX) · Mobile voice and data communications · Video conferencing, and · Document Management / Imaging systems (FileNet) The following are some of the accomplishments: · Development of service centric Corporate Telecommunication Strategy · Design and implementation of three call centres (Montreal, Calgary, Winnipeg). · A new Billing Centre in Winnipeg, including: · formulation of the business case, · RFI/RFP for vendor selection and · implementation of a FileNet based electronic document management system, which received and processed over 10,000 pages of incoming faxes per day · Corporate fax service integrated into the corporate Lotus Notes e-mail system (RightFAX) · Multiple Voice Response systems (Car Trace by customers, work order reporting by train crews, work assignment inquiries by train crews) · Wireless access to the company MIS (data over cellular). The service allowed reduction of field inventories by the rail repair crews of $2.4M. · Direct wireless control of gantry cranes and forklift vehicles for precise placement and retrieval of containers in a rail yard. |
